How to Provide Christmas Gifts for a Children’s Home in India

November 18, 2013

Christmas GiftsIt seems like Christmas arrives just a little earlier every year, so we thought we’d jump right in! If you’ve seen MOTHER INDIA, you know that we have a special relationship with Harvest India, who has rescued over 1,500 orphaned and abandoned children in southern India. When many of us think about Christmas, we instantly think about toys and stocking stuffers, but those types of gifts aren’t commonplace in India – especially in a children’s home. What they truly need is a new set of clothing to enjoy and be proud of.

For just $20 per child, you can provide a new outfit and special Christmas meal to an entire children’s home (approximately $500).

GIVE ONE or MORE ORPHANS A GIFT

1. Choose the # of orphans you would like to give the gift of a new outfit this Christmas ($20 per child).

2. CLICK HERE to make a donation now.

OR, GIVE AN ENTIRE HOME GIFTS FOR CHRISTMAS

1. Rally your office, church, small group, or family to pitch in or raise the money in a creative way.

2. Contact Harvest India (anita@harvestindia.org) to let them know that you want to adopt a specific children’s home for Christmas.

3. Donate the amount via credit card or send one check to: Harvest India USA, PO Box 10186, Costa Mesa, CA 92627

4. Harvest India will send you a digital photo of all the children holding their gifts, and you can pass it around to everyone who donated.

How cool is that? Don’t procrastinate – get started NOW!

DVDs Now Available – $10

September 14, 2012

Narrated by Grammy Award winner Rebecca St. James, MOTHER INDIA: Life Through the Eyes of the Orphan is a compelling documentary capturing the life and stories of 25 abandoned and orphaned children living along the railway in southern India.

With over 31 million orphans in India, David Trotter and Shawn Scheinoha showed up hoping to find kids who would be willing to trust them enough to show them life through their eyes. What they didn’t expect was to be warmly welcomed by a family of 25 children living along the railway.

Although telling the stories of the kids was their primary focus, David and Shawn were inspired to take action once they met two young siblings, Polayya and Koteswari. Having been forced to beg on behalf of their alcoholic parents, they escaped the abuse by boarding a train and eventually
joining an unlikely ‘family’ of 25 other courageous kids. When presented with a second chance at life by a local children’s home (Harvest India). will the older kids let the two little ones say ‘yes’ to a fresh start?

Follow the adventure as we experience life through the eyes of the orphan.

Hello Friends,

As many of you know, I have a deep passion for the people of India and the incredible work of Harvest India, led by Suresh Kumar (www.harvestindia.org). On my first trip to India in 2004, I became friends with Shawn Scheinoha, and we recently partnered together to produce a documentary entitled “Mother India: Life Through the Eyes of the Orphan“.

Through this 70 minute documentary, we are focused on…

  1. Increasing awareness of the plight of abandoned children in India by showing people “life through the eyes of the orphan.”
  2. Raising funds for Harvest India as they continue their work to rescue, clothe, shelter, and educate orphans (among many other wonderful things).

Although we hope to screen the film at churches, conferences, and film festivals across the country, we want to center our initial efforts in southern California. In fact, we are currently scheduling screenings of the documentary while Suresh Kumar is in Orange County (May 14th – June 12th). As I spoke with Heather Motichko (Harvest India USA Board Member), she suggested that we rally a group of key leaders together to talk about ways to leverage the film for the greatest benefit of LA and Orange County churches and Harvest India.

Will you join me for a ONE-HOUR INFO LUNCH where you will…?

  • Hear the vision of the documentary.
  • Watch the trailer plus footage from the film.
  • Help us decide the best strategy for screening the film in LA and Orange County.
  • Enjoy lunch on me!

MOTHER INDIA INFO LUNCH

We Need to Raise $10,000 to Finish Project.
Can You Help?

March 29, 2012

With the launch of our new website and official trailer, we are a bit over a month away from finishing the documentary. Everything is going quite well, but we are in need of a minimum of $10,000 to finalize the film, and launch a small summer tour.

Here’s a quick update…

  • The entire film has been “rough cut”, and we realized that some of our interviews (with David and Shawn) needed to be re-shot for clarity.
  • David has been interviewed, and Noah (our incredible videographer) will be shooting Shawn’s interviews in Nashville on April 2nd.
  • Next week, incredible A-list musicians from bands that are household names are coming together to record background music for the film.
  • We’re working with a contact to have a wonderful actress (who plays the lead role in an NBC comedy) provide the voiceover.
  • A professional motion graphics designer has signed on to help with the project.
  • Then, when everything is locked in, we’ll finally have it color correction and sound editing done.

We believe we can finish the project in the next 6 weeks, but we need your financial support to make it happen. The $10,000 not only covers the final phase of video editing, voice over, color correction, and sound editing, but it allows us to launch a small tour with Suresh Kumar (president of Harvest India) to screen the film in California, Georgia, and Arizona.

Watch this special message, and head on over to our Indiegogo campaign to give generously! We greatly appreciate it, and you’ll help us share the stories of abandoned and orphaned children who deserve to have a voice in this world.
